A Real Breakthrough; New Formula,

What people say makes us excited::

Yes, I DID receive your new formula. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I took some time off and went away for a long weekend. I am VERY impressed with the sample you sent.

I have used it about six times now, and I have really experienced great relief...more than any other product that I have tried so far! So, I am very happy to pass that news along to you. And, I am also very happy to have found a product that works.

It seems to work almost immediately. The smell as well as the color is much more pleasant than your last formula, too. Congratulations on a very fine product!! You must be very excited to share this with people.

Sincerely,

Mary Selfridge

Parasites blamed for lakes' kill

Published on: 01/13/05

Scientists have determined that a December fish kill at Lake Peachtree and Lake Kedron was caused by protozoan parasites.

These parasites, called costia and trichodiniasis, are common in freshwater systems and are not known to pose a human health risk, according to the Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Thousands of gizzard shad died at the lakes, which supply drinking water to Fayette County residents. Gizzard shad, when small, are a favorite food of largemouth bass. However, the shad can quickly grow too large to be eaten by bass and can overpopulate a lake.

"It is unusual to have a fish kill of which only one species is affected," says fisheries biologist Brent Hess of the Wildlife Resources Division. "The circumstances surrounding this fish kill did not fit with what we generally see from fish kills caused by pollution or natural environmental conditions." Some of the fish were sent to the Auburn University Fish Disease Laboratory for analysis.

Lake Peachtree is a 250-acre reservoir and Lake Kedron is a 235-acre reservoir.

Fayette County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn was recently appointed chairman of the Atlanta Regional Commission's Transportation and Air Quality Committee. Dunn has served on the ARC board since 2001 and as vice chairman of transportation and air quality since January 2004.

Dunn ran for ARC chairman but lost to Sam Olens, Cobb County Commission chairman.

Last week, the Fayette commission re-elected Dunn chairman and Linda Wells vice chairwoman.

Dunn voted for himself, along with Wells and Peter Pfeifer; voting no were Herb Frady and A.G. VanLandingham. In the Wells vote, Frady abstained and the other four commissioners voted in favor of Wells.

In other business, commissioners appointed Bob Harbison to the planning commission, and Jeanette Ballard, Jo Rusin and Jean White to the library board.

The Tyrone Town Council voted last week to increase sanitation rates $1 per month, effective next month.

Customers will now be billed $39 per quarter, up from $36 per quarter in 1999.

Town Manager Barry Amos said the town needed to raise the garbage fees to cover increased postage rates during the past five years and additional staff time required to handle sanitation calls. He said rates would still be lower than the $41 residents paid before 1999.

Fayette County commissioners will discuss the proposed rezoning of 40.55 acres at a meeting tonight. Mukut Gupta of Crown Development wants to build an 18-lot subdivision on the Old Senoia Road land.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the commission meeting room in the administration building.

Steven J. Yoder, a Fayetteville native, today will relieve Edward J. DíAngelo as commanding officer of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron 11 stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.

Yoder is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and has served the past 16 months as the squadron's executive officer. He lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Annie, and their five children, Josh, Ayla, Colette, Allyson and Bridgette.
